Specialties
Family Trauma and PTSD
The family environment in which you were raised plays a significant role in shaping your development as an individual. Difficult childhood experiences can have lasting effects on various aspects of life, including relationships, parenting, interactions with family members, as well as self-image, self-esteem, and self-worth. Particularly for those with a high Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) score, I can offer support in overcoming the challenges of your past and fostering healing.
Neurodivergence
An increasing number of people are recognizing that they have atypical brain patterns, which present distinct challenges in a neurotypical world. These unique cognitive processes can affect social interactions, educational and professional achievements, and daily functioning. Conventional methods often prove inadequate or counterproductive for neurodivergent individuals. This specialized therapy addresses their specific needs, helping them develop essential coping strategies to first survive and then thrive by leveraging their unique strengths. By creating a supportive therapeutic environment, individuals are empowered to embrace their neurodivergence, enhance self-awareness, and build resilience. This process fosters long-term personal growth and fulfillment, enabling them to lead more balanced and satisfying lives despite the constraints of a predominantly neurotypical society.
Gifted Therapy
A gifted individual, defined as having an IQ of 130 or higher, often experiences various forms of neurodivergence. While high intelligence has traditionally been associated with positive attributes, recent research suggests that high-IQ individuals encounter more challenges than previously acknowledged, particularly concerning mental health regardless of age or gender. Additionally, gifted individuals frequently struggle to find suitable resources and therapists, as few practitioners specialize in this area. If you fall into this category, you can count on me to not only empathize with your unique challenges but also assist you in navigating through issues such as burnout, failure to launch, existential concerns, and everyday functioning.
Men’s Issues
"Being a man" is an increasingly complex endeavor in modern society. This specialty focuses on the unique challenges facing men, the discrepancies between societal expectations and healthy practices, and expressing masculinity in a psychologically positive and beneficial way. Masculinity is not inherently toxic, any more than femininity is. Helping men explore this aspect of themselves is a point of therapeutic pride.
Phase-of-life and Career Counseling
In an increasingly complex world, finding one's place can be challenging for anyone. Whether you're grappling with failure to launch or analysis paralysis, the demands of daily life can feel overwhelming. Transitioning to a new chapter—whether it's opening a new life phase, coping with loss, graduating, starting a job or relationship, or relocating—brings its own set of stresses. The daily grind can sometimes feel suffocating. If you're facing these challenges, I'm here to help you navigate these transitions on your own terms and in a way that suits you.
